Local Cue
Privacy Policy
Effective July 28, 2026
Privacy, plainly
Local Cue works without an account and does not build a profile about you. We do not sell personal data, run advertising, or track you across apps or websites.
What stays on your iPhone
Your loyalty cards, barcode values, precise location, notification choices, and app preferences stay on your device. Camera input used to scan a barcode is not stored or uploaded.
What operates the service
Local Cue requests nearby-place data and delivers arrival cues. We collect anonymous, aggregated usage and map-quality information to keep the service reliable and improve it. This data is not tied to your identity or a persistent device identifier.
Rating a place
Local Cue lets you answer Yes or No to "Would you come back?" for a place from the Cues list or a recently-seen list that stays on your device and clears itself after an hour. We never send that recently-seen list, your location history, or your visit timeline to our servers — only your Yes/No answer for the specific place, sent through a scrambling technique that keeps it from being linked to your identity, your other ratings, or your network address. To stop scripted abuse, Local Cue confirms the request comes from a genuine, unmodified copy of the app running on genuine Apple hardware. A separate, isolated part of our system — walled off from the part that receives your rating — keeps a per-installation identifier for this purpose only, to limit how many ratings one installation can submit. That identifier is never combined with which place you rated, what you answered, or any other Local Cue data, and it is deleted automatically after a period of inactivity.
Your choices
Location, Camera, and Notification permissions are optional and can be changed in iOS Settings. You can delete cards in the app or delete Local Cue to remove its data from your iPhone.
